OUR STORY

Every mind is a
universe waiting
to be understood.

“We were not born to fix our children. We were born to love them — exactly as they are.”

Where it all began

ProjectUtter was born from a moment of quiet desperation — and a mother’s refusal to give up. In 2012, our founder sat in a hospital waiting room, her three-year-old son clutching her hand, as doctors delivered a diagnosis that would change their lives. Autism. She didn’t cry right away. She asked one question: “Where do we go from here?”

The answer, she soon discovered, was hard to find. Resources were scattered. Support groups were rare. And the world around her seemed to see her son’s differences before it saw him. So she built the community she needed — one family at a time.

What we believe

We believe autism is not a tragedy. It is not a puzzle to be solved or a storm to be weathered. It is a different way of experiencing a world that wasn’t always designed for you — and that takes incredible courage, every single day.

We believe parents deserve to be seen in their exhaustion, their joy, and everything in between. We believe autistic individuals deserve dignity, opportunity, and a voice in every conversation about their own lives.

Unconditional acceptance
Every person belongs here, without condition or caveat.
Strength-based thinking
We see gifts where others see gaps. Always.
Advocacy without apology
We speak up, show up, and never shrink down.
Community as medicine
Connection heals. We build bridges, not walls.

The work we do

Today, ProjectUtter serves hundreds of families across the country through early intervention programs, parent support circles, inclusive education advocacy, and life-skills workshops for young autistic adults. We partner with schools, therapists, and employers to build a world where difference is embraced, not erased.

“One afternoon, a boy named Arjun — who had not spoken in months — sat at our music therapy session and played a chord on the keyboard. He looked up and smiled. His mother, sitting in the corner, finally exhaled. That exhale is why we exist.”
